SCULPTURE AT THE CLUB
Created by our club member Nick Freeman, the sculptures have been placed in the Club's grounds for members and visitors to enjoy. They add an artistic dimension to the natural landscape around the club.
The youngsters in the Club have named the tennis playing figure (far left) ‘Prince’, after the Prince racquet held in the figure's right hand.
‘Prince’ is located by Court 4.
The sculpture (near left) of the metal ball, supported by metal ribbons is located by the clubhouse and sits perfectly in the ivy and natural woodland of the grounds around the club. Thank you Nick !

  OUR RESURFACED AND FRESHLY PAINTED
TENNIS COURTS ARE READY TO ENJOY !

It has been a long time in the planning and the work is one of the
largest costs a tennis club has to fund. After many years of use
the old courts have been rejuvenated and they now have a new
   lease of
life. A new surface and painted ready for tennis.

Come on over and give the courts a try !

All smiles for Rushmere Tennis Club at the 2017 Northampton Lawn Tennis League Awards Evening

Congratulations to our Mens B and Ladies Vets B who won their respective divisions of the 2017-18 Winter League. Excellent Result !

Picture
A close up of the award
Toby Price awarded Northampton Lawn Tennis League’s 2017 Young Male Player of the Year

Every year the NLTL give this award to the Male and to the Female Young Player of the Year. These are under 18s nominated by their club for their overall contribution and effort. This is in team contribution and also club contribution. Their personal development and their behaviour / representation of their club is also taken into consideration.
Toby (14 in March this year.) has been a member of Rushmere tennis Club for 4 years. The past couple of years have seen Toby develop into a fine young player and ambassador for the club.
A pupil at Northampton School for Boys, Toby has also been a keen Rugby player, training at Old Scouts. This year he has diverted some of this attention to improving his tennis...this has paid off! He continues to play football.
He started playing men’s and mixed team in  2015 and has quickly upped his game to now be a starring part of Rushmere Men’s A team and a regular Mixed player. Partnering Joe Wallington in the Men’s A he has played all but one of this seasons men’s matches and his strong performance helped Rushmere A to be achieve second in the lead and hence promotion. From our perspective Toby has improved massively over the last year and continues to improve further.
He is a great asset to the club, both in his playing and his general demeanour. Whether home or away matches, he is mature and well-mannered in both is play and sociability. His exemplary behaviour is frequently commented on as a pleasure by opponents.
He is a considerate and motivated member of the club, who involves himself in wider aspects of club life and activities. It is not always easy to be a young person in a very small club such as Rushmere – there are fewer peers than in other clubs and a tolerance and patience to play with a range of club member’s is required. Old and younger.  Experienced and new comers. Toby has regularly attended social events, in-house tournaments, and regular social tennis nights and acted as a committee member.  He independently took part in external competitions and did well. Again enabling the club to be represented by a polite, well presented young man. He plays in the NSB School Tennis Team.
Overall, Toby has stepped up this year and become a regular member of the Rushmere A team, representing himself outside the club and taking a full part in club life.  He has impressed others and handled this well. He enjoys his tennis and is a pleasure to play with – it is great to see his improvement and Rushmere Tennis Club is so pleased to see he has been given this award.

Congratulations Toby !
